Exhibitions Program

About the Exhibition Program: Each year Artistry presents approximately seven exhibitions in each the Inez Greenberg Gallery and the Atrium Gallery showcasing artistically excellent artwork executed in a variety of media and styles that express a wide range of creative voices. An exhibition committee convenes each spring to review submitted proposals and select artists who will exhibit approximately 2 years from the review date.

The 2018 Call for Artists is now closed. The next Call for Artists opens January 2nd, 2019 and closse March 31, 2019. Applications received during that time will be considered for the 2021 exhibition year.

Proposal Requirements: All exhibit proposals must be submitted via Artistry’s online artist review service, CaFÉ™, and include the following:

*Resumes/bios are not required for group proposals of three or more artists. However, a description of the group or arts organization is required in place of a resume and in addition to the proposal description.

Annual Members' Juried Exhibition

Each fall Artistry holds a members' juried art exhibition in the Inez Greenberg Gallery at the Bloomington Center for the Arts. This exhibition is juried and judged by a prominent local art professional. Applications for the 2017 exhibit are now closed. For information about applying for next year's exhibition, see below. Applications will open in the summer of 2018.

Open to all Artistry members, 18 years or older, who reside in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa
and Wisconsin.

A membership initiated after September 30, 2017 need not be renewed for this competition.

Artistry receives a 25% commission on all sales from the gallery. Sale price listed in application and on artwork must contemplate Artistry’s commission.

Major loss or damage to accepted individual pieces will be covered by Artistry’s insurance for a fair market value minus our 25% commission. In the case of a catastrophic event, that amount will be divided pro-rata among the exhibiting artists. Only accepted artworks are covered by insurance.

JPEG format only

Dimensions: 1920 pixels on the longest side
Resolution: 72 ppi/dpi
Size: maximum of 5 MB

There is a non-refundable entry fee of $15 (regardless of the number of pieces submitted) payable online.

An emailed notification will be made by 5:00 p.m. September 15.

If your artwork has been selected by our judge please be prepared to deliver accepted pieces (or arrange for delivery of your work) to Artistry on Saturday, September 30, between 9:00 am – noon. All accepted artists will receive five invitation cards when delivering artwork.   Shipped works must be in reusable cartons or crates for reshipping. Artists are responsible for arranging with the carrier in advance – and notifying Artistry – for return shipping. No C.O.D. shipments will be accepted. Artist is responsible for all shipping fees to and from the center.

The Opening Reception will be held Friday, October 6 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The award winners will be announced the night of the opening reception. This year’s awards include:
$500 Best of Show award
$150 Excellence award in 2-dimensional work
$150 Excellence award in 3-dimensional work
Four $75 Merit awards
Four Honorable Mentions

The exhibition closes at 10:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17. Artists must plan to pick up exhibited artwork Saturday, November 18 between 9:00 am – noon.

August 25: Online application deadline at 11:00 p.m.
September 15: Notification emailed to artists by 5:00 p.m.
September 30, 9:00 am - noon: Deliver selected artwork to Artistry 
October 6, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.: Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony
November 17: Exhibition Closes
November 18, 9:00 a.m. – noon: Pick up exhibited artwork


Gallery Descriptions

Inez Greenberg Gallery

The Inez Greenberg Gallery is the larger of the two galleries in the Bloomington Center for the Arts. We typically use this gallery for group shows of varying sizes, though we occasionally produce solo exhibitions and site-specific installations in this space. The Inez Greenberg Gallery has:

  • 1,750 square feet and apprximately 175 linear feet of hanging space
  • Hardwood maple flooring
  • 14'5" ceilings
  • Four movable walls
  • LED track lighting

Atrium Gallery

The Atrium Gallery is located on the upper level of the Bloomington Center for the Arts. We typically use this space for solo exhibitions. The Atrium Gallery has:

  • Approximately 100 linear feet of hanging space
  • An open lobby overlooking the first floor
  • A lounge area
  • A Walker Display Hanging system
  • LED track lighting
