Exhibiting Artist: Chris Wilcox

March 1 – April 22, 2018

In the exhibition “Home,” exhibiting artist Chris Willcox has focused on her quotidian world: portraits of family and friends, the ash tree outside her porch window, the forgotten corner of the living room where sunlight streams through a window onto a piano bench. By attending to the people, objects, and scenes that are an intimate part of her life, Willcox’s series reveals the resonance of the everyday and reminds us to pay attention to the most ordinary things and moments that surround us.

About the Artist

Chris Willcox was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Willcox earned B.F.A. degrees from the Ontario College of Art and Design and the University of Guelph, and earned her M.F.A. from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Jersey. She moved to the Twin Cities in 2000 to accept a position at Macalester College in St. Paul, where she is now a tenured professor in the Art and Art History department. Her work has been shown at galleries within the United States and Canada, including the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program (MAEP) galleries at The Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Phipps Center for the Arts.
