INTRO TO art journaling
Date: Saturday, April 19th
Time: 10am - 12pm
An art (or visual) journal is a creative space to collect ideas, record observations and experiment with supplies. It is a safe place to express ourselves and just have fun and play. These journals can begin as sketchbooks, notebooks or even an old book and then be filled with paint, collage, sketches, words or anything else you can dream of. The possibilities for art journaling are endless and can be a bit overwhelming, but you only need a few basic supplies to get started. In this class, we’ll discuss how to choose your journal, ways to prepare your pages, and we’ll play with a variety of supplies. Please bring a journal/sketchbook (any kind will do – blank sketchbook, notebook, or an old book) and any personal supplies you would like to use. A variety of other supplies will be provided to use in class.

abstract self-portrait collage
Date: Saturday, May 3rd
Time: 11am - 1pm
Self-portraiture doesn’t have to be rooted in realism. Abstract self-portraiture uses symbolism, color, composition, and movement to express your inner world. Join artist and yoga teacher Jessalyn Finch, currently featured in Artistry's Inez gallery, for a hands-on creative journey of self-expression. This workshop begins with a calming 5-minute guided mindfulness exercise to help center your thoughts. Then, using a variety of materials, you'll create a unique collage self-portrait. No artistic experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and an open mind!
